Applying Academic Writing to our own

How can you apply the concepts of academic writing to your own writing?

I can apply the concepts of academic writing to my own writing by using the different types of stages and skills. some skills i think i would use would be pre-writing, drafting, and revising. I would write a draft and later i would revise it and fix and mistakes. lastly i would type the final essay.
